Counselling Services

Anne has over 25 years mental health experience, and over this time, her practice has encompassed a wide range of individual psychotherapies, group therapies and counselling. She was a Florence Nightingale Scholar in 1990, being awarded a travel scholarship to the USA to study individual and group therapies for adults suffering from post traumatic stress disorders. She set up the first NHS service for Adult Survivors of Childhood Sexual Abuse in South Bedfordshire in 1991.

Anne is able to bring all of her broad-based experience and training into the counselling relationship to help her clients seek and find resolution of their emotional and psychological difficulties. Counselling is often a challenging process due to the emotional issues being explored, but, as problems begin to resolve, many clients say that they have found it to be one of the most rewarding processes they have ever undertaken.

Anne has worked with clients with a wide range of problems, including:

As a mental health nurse, Anne is registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and is duty bound to adhere to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct. It is important that clients understand that all sessions are confidential and that no information will be shared without permission unless under exceptional circumstances as proscribed by law and the NMC Code of Professional Conduct, Standards and Ethics.

The number of counselling sessions varies from person to person and this can be discussed during our first phone discussion. Usually we agree four to six sessions initially but there is considerable flexibility in any arrangement. Most people come weekly because this helps with continuity and, as time goes by and issues begin to resolve, appointments can be decreased to every two to four weeks.

If you believe that you could benefit from confidential and impartial, support from someone with the expert knowledge and skills to listen to you and help you, please do not hesitate to contact Anne for an initial discussion about the concerns you may have and also what you might gain from counselling.
